When forwarding my application for to obtain Vacation leave I stated for the information of His Excellency that I proposed to retire from the service at the Expiration of any leave which might be granted me.
I have had over 21 years service under The Hongkong Government and on retiring before I have qualified for a pension and it is my intention on my arrival at home to apply to the Secretary of State for some consideration of my case with a view to his granting me after an extension of leave on half pay and an honorarium. And I have to request that His Excellency the Governor may be pleased to forward a copy of this letter to "The Colonial Office together with such recommendation as he may be pleased to make on my behalf.
